The audiovisual installation "Signal vom Dachstein" in the Marble Hall of Schloss Trautenfels provides an overview of the diverse artistic engagement with the Dachstein region, in direct dialogue with scientific inquiry. Five local artists – Marie-Theres Härtel, Christoph Huber, Katharina Pfennich, Christoph Szalay, and Stefanie Weberhofer – have been intensely developing their work since 2021 in the context of climate change.
The landscape opera by Dutch artists Strijbos & Van Rijswijk, specially rearranged for the Marble Hall, offers an immersive experience combined with landscape recordings of the glacier. This comprehensive exploration of various scientific themes highlights the role of the Dachstein glacier and the surrounding region as an archive of natural and cultural history and as a barometer of our planet's health.
At the opening of the "Signal vom Dachstein" installation exhibition on June 1 at Schloss Trautenfels, Marie-Theres Härtel and her ensemble will present excerpts from her composition "Dachsteinklang," which was created as part of the project. Together with the participating artists, the project and the associated questions will be reflected upon.
